MY KITCHEN
I had just tidied up the kitchen the other day and the light was nice, so I took some photos, going around my little U-shaped kitchen. It's not fancy, as those of you who have been to my house know, but I like it! The flash photos came out pretty bad, so I didn't use them. Unfortunately, you can't see the colors on the bottom cupboards, but they are like the cupboards on top-- sage green with Mediterranean blue borders. I wanted Mediterranean colors to make it seem warmer in the winter.
The U-shape is evidently a popular design for the home kitchens of professional chefs, because everything is at hand and you don't have to walk far. This little kitchen sees alot of cooking!
My main problem is storage space. I have a walk-in closet that doubles as extra pantry space, but it's getting pretty crazy (see photos at end of post)!
CONFESSION TIME-- PANTRY PICTURES: (YIKES!)
Cheers!
I love the colors in your kitchen and the way you have your pots hung up. Your kitchen looks nice and homey and like a great place to really get down and do some cooking. I love your cookbooks!
ReplyDeleteDon't you love how bold colors inspire you to be creative in the kitchen!!! My kitchen is terra cotta, bright blue, and mustard yellow. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks great!
I love your colorful kitchen!. No worries on the pantry, you should see mine. Maybe I will show you in my next post. At least your look healthy!
ReplyDeleteLove your cozy kitchen! Is that an expresso maker on your stove? Gosh, just imagining all the wonderful dishes that have been prepared in that place. I can't read any of the cookbook titles you have on your shelves. Just curious as to what you have in your "library".
ReplyDeleteIt's nice you have room to store your cookbooks (or some of your cookbooks) in your kitchen -- mine are always in another room due to space constraints.
ReplyDeleteYour pantry's not that messy! Mine's a couple shelves under the basement stairs that my husband made out of old doors he bought at a garage sale. (He's so proud of them!) It's always full-to-bursting.
Starla, that is an espresso maker (actually a small one and a medium one). My husband makes a soy latte every morning, and I make the occasional soy cappuccino.
ReplyDeleteI have over 500 cookbooks, spread around the house, actually. I usually keep some of my "old standards" like Pasta e Verdure, and Tofu Cookery, and references like on Food and Cooking (Rev.), in the kitchen (I also have a small bookshelf beside the stove-- you can't see it in the pictures), and some cookbooks I want to try things out of. Rightabove the counter there are: vegan with a Vengeance, Smokin", Spirit of the Earth, From the Land of Figs and Olives, Julie Hasson's 125 Best cupcake recipes, and fran Costigan's More Great Good dairy-Free Desserts.
I love your kitchen! It is so colorful.. My pantry is scary.. I would be mortified to post a picture of it! hehe.. one of my goals this spring is to totally organize my kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THE COLORS! How beautiful. Looks like you've really made it your own.
ReplyDeletethanks for letting us share a small part of your life [your kitchen]
ReplyDeleteIts so cute!!!!!!
Its got a very homely and personalised feeling which according to me is a must only to have a decorative kitchen with no personal touchs is no kitchen at all.
thanks again for sharing so much with us.
500 cookbooks?? WOWWWWWEEE. Your kitchen reminds me of home. The kind of place anyone could come to and feel perfectly comfortable and welcome. Thanks for sharing a part of your life.
ReplyDeleteI made your yogurt the other day and it turned out great! I topped it with a bit of no-sugar added homemade preserves and some agave. This was my first foray into homemade soy yogurt and I was surprised at how easy it was and how well it turned out. Great recipe!
Vivacious vegan, I 'm so glad you had success with the yogurt! I've made it about 6 times now and it's been great EVERY time, unlike the Pomona's version. I'm eating alot more yogurt now!
